After a busy week

It's been a busy week, I was speaking at Church for the first time on Sunday and figuring out what I was going to say took an awful lot of time.  This week though it's been back to  normal and managed to fit in three fairly decent sketches so far.
My late father was an extremely clever man who sometimes didn't think things through quite
far enough.  Having moved from an old fashioned washing line to a rotary one, he decided that rather than digging out the concreted in pole he would attach a couple of bird houses to it.  Nice idea.  Then he put a wooden seagull on top of it that frightened off any bird that might have made use of them.
This is a rotary clothes line.

This is my daughter's school.  Big, red brick and probably Victorian with some later add ons.

And this is the cleverly placed sweet shop, next door to the school.

  1. Love this post! I love seeing snatches of your family's life. That is a well placed sweet shop! I know I'd be in it waiting for my child! :) btw, what's a rotary clothes line? lol

  2. Thanks for that, it's a nice sweetshop, old fashioned type with rows of jars with strange confectionaries in them. I added a picture of a rotary clothes line, it was easier then trying to explain it.

  3. Oh, I love old fashioned sweet shops! Thanks so much for the pic of the rotary clothes line. I had an idea that might be it, but like you couldn't find the words to describe it. Or it would have taken way too long of a comment.

  4. I really like your sketches, Peter. BTW, I have a rotary clothes line on my back porch - I call it an umbrella clothesline because mine folds up like and umbrella!
